On stormy evenings 

Her laughter echos in me

Despite the distance

A mixtape of lust 

A neon rubric’s cube spins

On quantum axes

I wax and I wane 

Like the moon, morphing yet fixed

But this ain’t no phase

Walking in the strange lands

Wandering and incomplete 

Reaching back to you

In lonesome right field 

Spitting sunflower seed shells 

Conversing with gnats
